We have collected over 400 lbs so far this year and we are excited to reach our goal of 500 lbs!

This year TYOF is again participating in the Orchestras Feeding America program, sponsored by the League of American Orchestras.   Last year OFA collected over 86,000 pounds of food nationwide through the efforts of 250 orchestras in all 50 states.

You are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items when you come to the November 20 concert. TYOF staff will collect the donations and deliver them to our partner, Food for Others, a local Fairfax County Food Bank.

The donations we collect will help to feed the hungry this Thanksgiving season, when the need is especially great.

TYOF concerts are always free.  This is one way you can show your support for the Orchestras and benefit the needy here in Fairfax County.

The following are the most urgently needed items:

  • Canned meats – ham, turkey, chicken, tuna, and beef
  • Peanut butter and jelly/jam
  • Canned soup, stew, and chili
  • Cereal
  • Vegetables – fresh (in season) or canned
  • Fruit – fresh (in season) or canned
  • Beans – dried or canned
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Boxed Meals
  • Pasta
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Rice
